Right in front of the World Trade Center, the sixty apartments of the imposing Metropolis residential complex in Beijing stand out in the skyline of the Chaoyang District, the modern district known as the embassy district, but also for its luxurious hotels, expensive restaurants and exclusive shops. Inside Metropolis the best style of international design was chosen, which makes the living environment beautiful, safe and welcoming at the same time. The park, the surrounding buildings, the people, the frenzy of contemporary everyday life are continually reflected on the building’s mirror facades.
Even the interiors, being design and avant-garde interiors yet at the same time simple and elegant, capture the eye offering sensations and emotions from the very same moment in which one crosses the threshold.
It is a complex of 60 luxury apartments, created paying attention to every tiny detail. In this project, the sophisticated design combines perfectly with more traditional soft lines thanks to the wise use of very high quality materials: the distinctive feature of the Neri & Hu design office that challenges the traditional boundaries of architecture to include other contemporary disciplines. As a consequence, the cultural, urban and historical context of the city acts as a starting point for the architectural explorations involved in each project.
