PRESS RELEASE

This is the great message that Oikos Venezia intends to convey with the launch of Vela, the new sliding safety door, for the first time offered as the main entrance of the house.

BAU in Munich, 13-17 January: This is the privileged stage for the official debut of Vela, the new Oikos door that with its elegant horizontal movement extends horizons to new design solutions in the world of home entrances.

The new Vela entrance architectural solution is a sliding safety door that combines aesthetics, performance, and functionality. Innovative in its concept of a sliding door as home entrance, it stands out for the absence of traditional locks and keys. Opening and closing are managed through three types of devices: PIN code, Oikos Card or fingerprint reader. The latter can be integrated into the door handle or, for a cleaner design, placed on an adjacent wall or in another room, up to 8 meters away from the door.

The fully electronic system can also be managed remotely via the Arckey app, which can be used on smartphones for convenient and secure control.

Vela’s richness is also determined by its high-performance standards, validated by the rigorous testing to which the company subjects all product lines. Vela comes with a Class 4 break-in class, 42 Db for acoustics, and an air-water-wind tightness respectively achieving a value of 3-7A-C5, which are among the highest ever attained. Finally, Ud 1.3 W/m2K is the value for thermal insulation.

With Vela, the home entrance combines elegance and security exceeding all expectations. Other technical pluses include:

  • Automatic lifting element: It is an automation that allows the leaf to raise/lower when the door is opened/closed, making the movement smooth and the spaces more accessible for everyone.
  • Magnetic levitation: Ideal for large doors weighing more than 120 kg, the system, which is invisible as it is mounted inside the frame, uses magnetic levitation to raise the leaf, thus reducing friction and allowing a smooth movement.
  • Motorized sliding movement: It is possible to opt for a fully automatic opening mode that allows the door to rise and open in a consequential manner by pushing a button inside the house.
  • Heat barrier frame and leaf: Technology that improves the thermal insulation of the door, reducing condensation and heat loss thanks to the insulating materials present in the frame and leaf.
All this increases the energy efficiency and living comfort and reduces the heating and cooling costs.
  • Floor locking system: The patented and invisible safety mechanism placed in the door leaf for floor closing ensures maximum safety performance of the door without compromising its design.
  • Without threshold and rail: The door has no threshold and floor rail although it maintains its performance, with no architectural barriers and a clean design that is integrated with its surroundings.
  • Without any visible screws: Irreplaceable feature of all Oikos doors. No screws, fastening elements or automation components remain visible thus ensuring an unaltered entrance aesthetic.

As the dialogue with the architect becomes alive and interesting, Vela serves as a true and actual platform for creating never-before-seen entrance architectural solutions. The flexibility in size allows for tailor-made solutions, making each entrance unique and special. Vela’s dimensions range from a minimum of 900×2100 mm to a maximum of 3750×5000 mm. Versatility is an important feature: The door can disappear elegantly into the wall, creating a perfect continuum between furnishing and entrance, or it can be highlighted by enhancing valuable details and hiding more functional components from view.

Vela unveils a new range of porcelain gres finishes that combine the elegance of the metallic effect with the urban nature of concrete. From neutral and sophisticated to intense and deep tones, each shade tells a unique textural story. The suggested proposal presented at the launch of Vela (Formwork Concrete in three nuances, Smooth Concrete in light and dark versions, and metallic Iron) will be extended to the entire range of Oikos products.

Stylish details are not lacking in the new proposal and in fact the handles play indeed a key role on Vela, designed specifically to convey value to the only elements that remain visible. There are two options for the internal side: a more iconic one featuring strong references to the Venetian gondola’s Bow Iron and another one, which is more neutral and minimal meeting all needs of extreme minimalism. On the outside, on the other hand, there is a vertical long handle in the most visible version, either in aluminum or integrated into the door covering recreating a flawless textural effect.

Vela is not just a front door like any other, it is an architectural solution that promises to provide designers with a rich and comprehensive tool that can determine new shapes and meanings for home entrances.
